it sort of was in that Blaxplotation era, from what I gather.

That reviewer is an annoying little beeyotch whining because the very boring Ronald Howard (Leslie Howard's son, not Opie) gets very little screen time in it. Don't take her seriously.

It's a decent, rather bland action/adventure buddy movie centered around Jim Brown's and Fred Williamson's characters, that's sort of blaxploitation-themed w/o being aggressively blaxploitation-ish. Lee plays a low-rent bounty hunter with a Captain Ahab complex about Jim Brown's character, that events apparently cure him of. He's reasonably scary, the comic-relief villains are a reasonable mix of creepy and funny, Brown and Williamson are about as entertaining as they ever are, the action scenes are good but not very plausible, there's a sheriff who self-righteously reams the bounty killer out only to turn out to be greedier and less honorable than the latter, and the Jerry Goldsmith score is highly regarded. HEX might enjoy it, Joe probably wouldn't, could go either way for Marco, based on my knowledge of you gents' taste. ;D

well ill have to check out the ANCHOR BAY dvd soon then.

and please tell us more about ourselves in the future. do go on. ;D

hey they took of the "annoying little beyotches" review. bastards. that bad comment of VAN CLEEF was hilarious. she made him seem like JAR JAR BINKS.

Has anyone else seen this later LVC sw filmed in The Canary Islands in about 1974 as I picked this up from Amazon UK for just 5 the other day and after Grand Duel and Stranger & The Gunfighter this is my next fave LVC sw from the 1970's.
How does it stack up for anyone else? ::)

its good. I have mentioned elsewhere that the director has a real eye for dynamic camera angles during action scenes. worth a look. This will come second in his 70's films (after Grand duel).

Sabata is 1969 anyway, but i'd forgotten about Return Of which must be about 1970 or 1971,so perhaps TAHR is the 4th best LVC 70's sw!

according to some, 1970 is still considered the 60's so I think 1969 can be considered the 70's as well ;)

The other (and lesser) Jim Brown and LVC vehicle "Kid Vengeance" was probably filmed in the canary Islands as well.

and I believe Kid Vengeance was curiously sold as a sequel to "Take a hard ride". (?)
