Its hard to believe that Eli was kicking on a little bit(in his fifties)when he starred in GBU!
He looks great on my DVD SW interviews but is he still acting?

His last movie appearance I know of was in Mystic River. Clint Eastwood made a gesture to put him in as an extra with no credits of course but he played a bartender or shop owner opposite Kevin Bacon and some other fellow.

I remember hearing an interview with Eli about How the West Was Won and how his part as Charlie Gant helped him get the role of Tuco.

There's the scene where Wallach pretends to draw his gun and shoot at George Peppard's kids.  Leone liked it so much that he wanted Wallach to play Tuco.

Too bad I missed the Eli birthday fest.  All three movies are classics.

That's true. Everyone thinks Leone wanted Wallach because of the mexican bandit role he played in The Magnificent Seven but leone wanted him because of his Charlie Gant role in How the West was Won. I like that role better too because Charlie reminded me a lot of Tuco and the scene where he pretends to shoot the kid was very Leonesque.

Happy Birthday today, Eli, 97 years today.

Best acting performance in any film - ever - as Tuco.  Absolutely threatening, but yet funny too; not easy at all to pull off.

Thanks for all the memories !!!!

Happy Birthday Eli!

Just saw him in Mystic River -- that guy still has IT, all these years later.

God Bless You, Eli!
