Spain is incredible. The once eternal quarter finalist has become world's dominant football nation.

There main players are in 2014 still in the best football age. Let's see what happens.

I'm still in shock that Germany did not made it.

Even England tonight could have got the better of us.

I doubt it Titoli. As has been proved in at least the last two tournaments England are unable to compete with the best and are a second rate team.We are technically inept and cannot hold or pass the ball. How England are still rated in the top 10 is beyond me.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. Italy yesterday was athletically disabled. Marchisio: I think I heard his name during the first half 1 ot 2 times: what was he doing during the match? If you have a midfielder absent against Spain (or any other team) you lose. Chiellini: why was he on the pitch at all? He was responsible for the first goal and forced an early substitution. Thiago Motta: no comment. Daniele De Rossi, though playing a good  match, was half his standard. Still I think it would have sufficed that Balzaretti (who was playing a good tournament) had been in the starting eleven things might have developed differently Spain wouldn't have scored his first goal so easily and we wouldn't have played in 10 in the last 30'. This reminded me of 1994 Pasadena final, when Baggio was preferred to Signori (serie A lead scorer), though phisically unfit. Players are quite egotistic and prefer to play always though their behaviour can put the team in a difficult situation, like happened yesterday.

5-1

Times change, the players got older and after 3 titles in a row (no team achieved this before) they are probably full up. Many expected this happening already in 2012.

Still, it is an asthonising result.

I read a few years ago, that the WC is the biggest sport event, bigger than the Olympic games. And the 2nd one is the European football cup.

Uruguay won the '28 and '32 Olympics and the 1930 WC in between, if I remember well. Italy won 1934 and 1938 WC and the 1936 Olympics.
