Don't you like music with your supper?

Don't know who directed the movie as i haven't seen Buddy Goes West (1983) but i have the soundtrack on a CD box set. This set is very similar to Morricones scores for both Nobody films a decade earlier in that he again is making several references to his past western score catalogue. The main title(and its various different guises) is very similar to the My Name Is Nobody title theme though i actually find it in this case quite syruppy and irritating.Theres also a rather nauseating song called Hallelujah which reminds me somehow of Sunday school-although i never went!In addition there are three monotenous barroom tunes played on piano and clarinet. However there are two redeeming features including an excellent acoustic guitar-riffing tune Death Rides A Horse style with added Navajo Joe chants and a heavily FOD/FAFDM influenced trumpet theme(with harmonicas as well) which has a fantastic musical interlude reminiscent of the composer Phillip Glass.
I'm afraid that this isn't quite enough to earn anything more than an "only fair" but i am still quite keen to see the movie at some point because it has Bud Spencer starring!!!

This doesn't have to do with Morricone's score for Hellbenders, but has anyone heard anything about the Anchor Bay Hellbenders DVD?  First it was supposed to be early this year and I still haven't heard anything about it.

I've never seen the movie but am interested in getting a copy.  Hopefully, a dvd is on the horizon somewhere.

Thought its 'bout time i included this one seeing that its quite topical at the moment.I'd say that this is definately one of Morricones most distinctive sw scores but on the main theme the Indian screechings a bit wearing on the eardrums and not quite as effective as the coyote yell on GBU and the 5 note guitar riff is a bit monotenous but there quite a bit of interesting stuff elsewhere so i'll say "good".
Poll closes in a fortnight as usual.

Morricone is always at the least good.  ;)

I ranked it as "very good." I like the main theme with all the chanting, although it seems to be a joke now since its been used in several more recent movies.

As long as we're on the topic, how about a widescreen release from MGM or whoever owns the rights?  I hear good things about the Japanese DVD, but those are pretty expensive and I'm not exactly rolling in it right now.

I've read that the soundtrack isn't patch on the one provided for Tessari's half prequel Pistol for Ringo(haven't seen this yet!) but i played the video the other day and theres some good stuff here. Its not the groundbreaking Morricone we all know and love but instead quite Hollywood in style really but alot of its in a sad minor key which i quite enjoy really espescially the main theme.I vote "good" for this one!

OK i'm gonna have to record an "only fair" verdict on the Morricone guide with just my one solitary vote but i'll be happy to change this if 2 or more folks think otherwise.

This is the one with the sung title song with the incomprehensible lyrics, is it?

"If you see a man with downcast eyes and ragged clothes

Walking through your town don't shove him up your backside

I'm a loser so brother help me,

I need yoooooooooooooooou.  I need yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooou!!!!!!"

Is that the one you're thinking of?  If so I'd give it a good.  :P

I like the score a lot....--> Very Good

a very "serious" score...yes.."brooding" & "passionate" would fit.

Return of Ringo
main title
music by Ennio Morricone
sung by Maurizio Graf

I kiss at last the beloved ground of my land,
That I left one day with my hard heart full of pain.
I have looked in the faces of my old friends,
But nobody looked at me as my old friend.
And now what happens you must, you must tell me.
You must remember who I am.
If you see a man with downcast eyes and ragged clothes,
Walking through your village, don't shun him but go beside.
I'm that man and now I beg you, help me, I need you.
I need you.
The liar who told my sweetheart that I was dead,
To take my place, he shall pay for this base lie.
Those who saw me as a rundown man,
Those who tried to destroy all our world,
Shall leave forever our beloved land,
Because we are fearless men.
Because we are fearless men.
Because we are fearless men.

I like Groggy's lyrics better....."Walking through your town don't shove him up your backside;D he he

"'Don't take any chances you don't have to, don't trust anybody you don't have to trust and don't do no favors you don't have to do"- Ace Hanna
