Now, you got me. I.e. I've been hearing the main theme for more than 30 years and is my all time favourite with GBU's and Metti una sera a cena's. Expecially the transition from Dell'Orso's solo to the choir refrain always does it for me. I am less convinced by the oboe "a cappella" transition between the string intro and the whistle before the second intro: not up to Morricone's genius for sound (but probably I'm alone in the world thinking he could have done best). The oboe is a half anticipation of the whistle, has not a acustic value  for itself. The string are dramatic, the whistle has an ironic, what do I care attitude which together are a reproduction of the two main characters of the movie (or of two attitudes to life). So the oboe where it's at? (Sorry folks, I must have drunk too much Coke. But forgive me, it's Xmas).
About the rest of the soundtrack, I don't know (though, I like the Marcia degli straccioni or whatever it is called), but the rest of the music didn't do it for me like FFDM or GBU did it. I haven't heard the soundtrack only watched the movie 7-8 times. So i'll follow the advice of Maestro Banjo and listen to the music separately. I don't think I will make it by the end of the year though.

I said very good for the same reason as Le Bon.  I really enjoy the score, but I have to rank it behind GBU and OUATITW.

If nothing else, this score is a departure for Morricone and Sean/John's theme gets stuck in my head easily for days at a time.

Don't you like music with your supper?

I read that this is Morricones favourite western score outside of Leone and i love it because its so different to his other scores but nontheless totally mesmorising and i like the use of all those exotic Indian tablas, sitars and the triangles. The only thing i'm not to keen on is the soppy love theme to Silences love scene with Pauline but i don't like love scenes anyway and the quality of the rest of the soundtrack far outweighs this one theme!
Because less people may have seen this movie than Leones westerns i'm letting this poll run for a fortnight!

I gather from another thread that opinions are divided by the vocal talents of Christy on the title theme, yes her slightly off-key rendition of Mexico in Tepepa(the only track i don't like btw) is an endurance test, but on the Big Gundown theme i find her singing totally rousing and i love it when those strings kick in on the second verse when the song picks up tempo. Its a great theme and similar to the GBU theme in that it is reprised in various different musical guises throughout including the wonderful cornfield chase towards the end of the movie. The jazzy arrangement for the bullring theme is hard to listen to outside of the movie and i think i'll call this one very good.Surprisingly i read that together with GBU this is Morricones most popular score!
I'll let this poll run for a fortnight and like the previous 6 i will apply the result to the new Morricone SW Filmography thread.

I gave it a good, not my favourite Morricone score by a long shot but it still serves its purpose for the film.

I'm feeling a bit guilty only giving this a "very good" but its too late to change my mind,boo-hoo!Despite not having an ace title song like Big Gundown and Run Man Run i probably have a preference for Face To Face out of the three Sollima's and i always get moved by score in places, but theres still not an awful lot between Big Gundown and Face to Face!
