I'm rating it "essential".........the opening theme played during the credits gets the old juices flowing beautifully..."L'Arena", of course, is splendid...& I like the guitar music w/ vocals.... it's very nice.

12th Morricone Poll:My Name Is Nobody
«

This is quite possibly my favourite Morricone score outside of Leones five recognised sw's(he directed the second unit in Almeria for Nobody-or so i've read!),and here he pays homage to his past efforts-OUATITW and FOD- to great effect.I also love the jokey Trinity-influenced title theme.I'm forever playing the cd so i reckon "essential".
Poll closes in a fortnight.

13th Morricone Poll:Death Rides A Horse
«
#84 :

I put this on last night having just received the Region 2 DVD and although not one of my favourite Morricone scores i'd say it is still very good because it is so varied and i like the pulsating guitar driven riding themes with those harsh flute flourishes and the chanting. In places theres a pounding piano riff which i'm sure has been ripped off by the Omen films!
Poll runs for 14 days!!

A bit too carnivalesque for me but I don't care for comedy Westerns that much either.

I think the Mercenary is better and the title song can't rank among Morricone's 10 best. Good.

I voted it as very good, not my favourite Morricone score but certainly not his worst.

I'm not a big fan of comedy westerns but for me Beauregards theme and the music that plays when he shoots the Wild Bunch and it goes into a still montage is very enjoyable.

Well its actually Sollima that claims it to be Morricones score in the special feature interview on the DVD.Why would he lie?-and he certainly seems to have all his marbles about him in his reminiscences.
It doesn't sound unlike Morricone to my ears but i'd have to have another look at the movie again to draw comparisons with his other scores.
