Ennio Morricone SW Filmography Guide

Like the very much underated movie,its soundtrack just keeps growing and growing on me.The (again jokey) main title theme is very infectious and i love the way the vocalisations go up the major scale and this theme as usual is reprised by Morricone in various guises but imaginatively done.Like My Name Is Nobody Morricone humourously pays homage to his back catalogue which this time round includes parodies of music from FOD and GBU.There's also much use of a Joe Thanks(Terence Hill)
pocket watch which has a chime very similar to Gianni Garkos  from Parolini's classic Sartana.
Not quite in the same class as MNIM  but still very good i'd say

I like the music in Duck You Sucker. Most of the songs in the film are very playful and very catchy. My favorite song though is the new version of the theme song which we discussed back at the Fistful of Dynamite board.

The soundtrack is one of the elements I like less in the movie. Can't find anything original and the title tune is one of the weakest among Morricone's westerns.

The main theme is derivative of the Nobody theme but just as catchy.Apart from this,in terms of originality its in exactly the same territory(although admittedly not as effective) as the My Name Is Nobody with references to Morricones back catalogue.I like the GBU parody during the stagecoach chase which incorporates one of Morricones classical trademarks-Beethovens "Fiir Elise" (according to the missus!) and the music accompanying the duel between Hill and Kinski takes a nod to FOD.Theres also a quite moving theme in the same vein as Beauregards in MNIN.
All in all the score may not be groundbreaking or original
but the score is undeniably melodic with a lot of variety.I really like the joyful mood of this soundtrack and i may have to end up getting the cd to go with my MNIN cd.

I voted it as Only Fair. I don't much like the movie and I wasn't overtly impressed with the score.

The sound track is good in my opinion.  It has happy tunes like MNIN, but they are not quite as good.  Many of the aspects of this movie strive to inherit the best qualities of MNIN.  Howerver, it lacks Henry Fonda & some of the best face slapping scenes in film history, and for this reason it's not on an equal footing.

In any case, I wouldn't die a happy man unless I had this film in my Terrence Hill collection.  I watched the movie the other for the first time and really enjoyed it.

I would even go as far to say that Ennio Morricone is the most important person involved in the SW genre as in my opinion dozens of SWs including Leones would not have succeeded so much without his music.

I couldn't agree more banjo.  Morricone's music is fabulous.  It amazes me how flexible he is...switching from SW music to horror, then drama, etc.  He's a truly talented man...a legend.  It goes without saying that Sergio and Ennio had a great friendship.

I'm willing to part with my cash for virtually anything containing a Morricone soundtrack, even films i've never seen before like What Am I Doing In The Middle Of A Revolution?,And For The Roof A Starful Of Sky and Life Is Tough Eh Providence?-and i haven't been disappointed so far!!

Banjo, i have just received today Terence Hill in Viva Django (aka: Get a Coffin Ready) from Amazon.de. This is a German DVD but it has English audio. It also has some extras like artwork and stills. I got it for 12 euros but i see  the price has been reduced now to 7.99 euros. This is not one of the retitled Djangos as during the course of the story his machine gun is dug up ... literally! I will let you know what it's like when i have watched it.

Hey banjo, you have a very nice collection & certainly have me beat on his work.  I've scrounged what I could find on Amazon.com (Trinity collection, both Nobody films, Boot Hill & that's it).  I'm just now starting to scour foreign film distributors because they're hard to find.  I haven't ventured into his non-western stuff yet.

Today I discovered Bud & Terence created a movie in 1995 called "Troublemakers".  It's supposed to fit right in as a 3rd Trinity movie from the reviews I've read....but I can't find it.  Amazon is currently out of stock on it except for VHS format.  I love these two guys together.  The big brother-little brother rivalry cracks me up big time. 

Say, would you mind rating the other films you noted above?  Your opinion on Terence Hill is very close to mine & I'd like some feedback on them to help east my shopping anxiety.

I watched my new Who Finds A Treasure Finds A Friend video last night and its the weakest Bud & Terence non-western i've seen so far but i've got Odds & Evens to view very soon.
For a Bud & Terence non-western i cannot recommend Watch Out We're Mad highly enough-please believe me its possibly the funniest comedy film i've seen ever.I fell in love with this movie as a kid and i've never tired of it.Everything about it - the fight routines,rally car race,burger and beer contest,Bud singing in a choir,a spaghetti western style motorcycle duel ,the infectious soundtrack are all absolutely brilliant!!!
Up until recently i've been frustrated by the lack of a WOWM DVD release but only last week i spotted some sellers on Ebay selling a new Dutch DVD containing  a brilliant widescreen print-i've just received my copy and i'm over the moon with it!!
I notice that you have just one of the Giuseppe Colizzi trilogy-Boot Hill which i have so far avoided due to negative feedback.The first in the trilogy God Forgives I Don't,is a gritty,violent,slow paced movie lacking any humour but the middle one Ace High is excellent and includes a brilliant Tuco-esque performance from Eli Wallach,a good storyline,great action and the beginnings of the great chemistry(including the humour) developing between Bud and Terence.
One of my next purchases will probably be Viva Django starring Terence Hill which acts as some sort of sequel to Corbucci's original-but i wish there was more information available(can't find any top 10 polls!!)on the large volume of non-western stuff that Bud & Terence did.
