For Boardwalk: how do I give a start to the piece of music you posted?

You should be able to just click "Click to listen" & it will play. You have Windows Media Player and/or Real Player? Or..try right clicking & choose "open" or "Open in New Window" but that shouldn't be necessary.

Can anybody comment on the Last Pistolero short which i understand was included with a limited edition dvd of Django?
I'm soon to be starting a poll for Hills Run Red and What Am I Doing-but i'm happy to add on any ratings for other titles in the list which i haven't yet seen myself!

it is visually stunning however the soundtrack is what kills it. They rip off Morricone's score from "Fistful of dollars" and mix it with some "techno" crap.

The film is rather avant-garde and tells the tale of a gunslinger who rigs certain objects around a wharehouse so that when he fires his pistol the bullet ricochets across the room and finally into his belly killing himself. Thus having his last gunfight and with him goes an era.

OK Firecracker unless anyone disagrees i'll record an "only fair" verdict for The Last Pistolero.
Surely someone has seen Gunfight At Red Sands to comment on the musical score? Roll Eyes

Considering that  the film's producers specifically requested Hollywood-style stuff, ..parts of it are quite nice (not too bad, but nothing to write home about)...others are just...OK... .....the title song (A Gringo Like Me) is a different version than the one that's going around now ...an earlier version w/ a different vocalist.
In a word...mediocre.

I'd almost forgotten about this one-i think its a quite a well known Euro western which is on UK sattelite tv quite regularly. If you haven't seen it Antony Quinn(is a bandit) who pretends to be a priest in order to boost morale in a Mexican village and fend off a band of bad guys led by Charles Bronson-the scores pretty good i recall-but i'm going to take another look before voting!

I watched this about a year ago, and my thoughts were......

This is one of those films that nearly loses you, but in the end rewards you for sitting through it. It makes for a very good view, despite its leisurely pace at times.

In summary Anthony Quinn stars as a outlaw that is saved by Father John, whom he escorts to the village of San Sebastian. The village is deserted, with its cowardly residents hiding in the hills from indians, who pillage their crops and burn their buildings. When Father John is murdered, the outlaw is mistaken as the man of god by the villagers, and assists them in regaining their confidence and defending themselves.

Quinn is superb in his role, complimented by Charles Bronson, who plays the bad guy "half breed" Teclo. Sam Jaffe's Father Joseph character is also very likable.

Whilst the movie is quite slow in places, this only helps to plot out the story. Although casting the indians as the "bad guys", it does explain that the massacre of the villagers is no different than what the white man has done to their own race "in the name of god".

The soundtrack is again provided by Ennio Morricone and, whilst not his best work, does help provide the suitable atmosphere, borrowing heavily from some of his other compositions.

Definitely worth a view.

I rate Morricone's score for this film very highly.

Edda's vocal on the 'Love Theme' is real 'hairs on the back of the neck' stuff. And a great Navajo Joe style track called 'The Attack'.

A consistently good score, but for my money the Love Theme makes it essential.

Be interesting to see what you make of this CJ.Its not that great but Nero does a nice line in self- depreciating humour at his previous sw roles.
I must watch Guns For San Sebastian this week seeing that i set this poll up Embarrassed
