I have only seen the first 15 minutes. I wanted to kill my curiousity for the supposed "fantastic" soundtrack. I'll get to watching the whole thing soon though.
I'll have to give it another chance but it definately didn't give me a lasting first impression like Corbucci's previous What Am I Doing In The Middle Of A Revolution-maybe his last really decent sw-but i've still got Samurai to watch soon!

I think it's very good too.

I like the drum beat in one part of the soundtrack, it's very menacing.

While it's not my top favorite Morricone, I still like it. I'd say good. Too bad the poll is closed. I always wonder what the chant is saying. Does anybody know?

This is a really top rate sw from Carlo Lizzani-Leone Admirer wheres the review Cry? but for me the weakest link(could be up with Leones best otherwise) is Morricones score Shocked ,especially the annoyingly sentimental "i know a girl with golden hair" theme tune.Only fair i'd say Undecided

That song sounds better in Italian. I like the theme music. It's not really a masterpiece but it's still dynamic.

This is a really top rate sw from Carlo Lizzani.

Some time back I thought we both agreed this film to be barely above average?

The music is forgettable. I dont even recall the song you mentioned.

"Fair" for me.

No! Undecided
This is what i said on Arizona Colts "Opinions on 28 sw's" thread:-
"I've got that same TCM print-its awful but doesn't quite spoil for me what is a great sw but it ain't as good as FOD and Morricones score is very dull and too traditional sounding. Its a great storyline, the set pieces are wonderful and yes Henry Silva does steal the show.I'd love to get hold of the stunning Japanese print

Meh...for me it was just above average, if that. The first act is entertaining but the middle...bleh. Things don't pick up until the ghost town shoot out.

Henry Silva was annoying. That laugh, that over the top hammyness...awful.
And don't get me started on Hunter...as an actor...he sucks something awful.

I found nothing hammy here although some of Franco Neros performances have reminded me of a ham sandwich.

Hey Banjo,

I've just checked Japanese Amazon. They have only one new copy left (roughly 85 to 90 bucks). If you have not got it yet, you'd better hurry and order now!

Japanese DVD (Titled: Kaette kita Gunman: The Gunman Who Returned)
