Sergio Leone at Disneyland Resort Paris

I celebrated New Year in style staying at Disneyland Resort Paris and going on rides well past the midnight hour. In the three day stay I enjoyed myself immensly even though this is the 8th time I've stayed there, third time over the new years holiday. When I was in Walt Disney Studios, the newest park of the resort, I took some photos of the Leone square and the plaque that went with it. Here they are (apologies for the picture quality):

They have a ride called cinemagic which is a blend of live action and film (like the Terminator ride in Florida except it aint 3D) and our hero falls into different film genres and end up falling in the western and as he gets up a train pulls away and we pull back to see the three goons sent by Frank looking at him whilst the Harmonica theme plays from OUATITW. It's excellent.

John, John, John...
There are three things a frog HAS to know about DisneyLand Paris:
1) you can buy dusters there
2) cinemagic
3) you can ear Morricone music in "frontierland"

They would NEVER do ANYTHING like that here in the states for Leone. Nobody in the US film business takes him seriously except a small handfull of " real " cinema directors ( directors who make movies out of a love for film not just to get rich ) such as Scorcese, Copolla, Spielberg, Lucas, and Carpenter.

Don't forget Tarantino among the cineast-directors who respects Sergio Leone. Tarantino has been talking about his admiration for Leone since he was first interviewed - and proved his love with the Kill Bill-films.

They probably wouldn't do any thing like that for european masters or also american past directors like D.W. Griffith or Buster Keaton. But as they thrive on ignorance I think it's only fair.

In my opinion, tarantino proved his love for sergio as soon as Reservoir Dogs: the introduction of Mr Blond couldn't have been more leone-like.

And in the bonus of OUATIA, when he says: "when I started, I didn't know the names for all the terms, so when I wanted an extrem close up, I said: I want a Sergio Leone!"
Marvelous
(I don't like Tarantino!)
