It is a great film, I watched it again recently and it still manages to captivate and hold you in its grasp to make the 3 hours and 40 minutes seem to melt away.

Don't worry, Firecracker. That doesn't change the fact that DYS is a great Leone film. A real Leone fan doesn't put any of Leone's work down.

So I'm not a real Leone fan for not liking FOD?  :'(

I don't give a rat's ass about Colossus of Rhodes, does that make me not a Leone fan?

I opened a can of worm, didn't I? For me, there is a level of fondness among Leone films. Still I don't dislike any of them. But that is because I'm a sucker of Leone. Every lover sees a thousand graces in the  beloved object.

But the bottom line is, even if you have one or two Leone films you don't care about, as long as you love Leone, that's all matters, right? I didn't mean to offend anybody. But if I did, I apologize.

What you said earlier was true Sanjuro, if you love Leone's work, chances are you won't dislike any of his films. I think FOD is amateur compared to his other classic films...but I still like it.

DYS is good, but a masterpiece?  Maybe Leone had the pretensions of it being one, but the final product is too. . . I dunno, what's the word I'm looking for?  I don't want to say "disjointed", but something about it doesn't work for me.  And, for the most part, the extra footage that's been added only adds to the confusion.

You haven't seen it in widescreen, so you haven't seen it at all.
Plus it is a film that begs to be seen more then once in order to appreciate it's brilliance. I recall you saying you have only viewed it once, correct?

If anything...it is a flawed masterpiece but a masterpiece none the less.
