Regardless, cinemaretro is a fine genre publication. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. :P

Read that both El Condor & Barquero are being released on DVD soon, EL CONDOR will get a DVD release in Spain, and Koch Media will put out BARQUERO.

A dvd that specializes in the Trinity esq. Italo westerns or serious oaters that star Terence Hill.

http://www.amazon.com/Grindhouse-Experience-Presents-Spaghetti-Bible/dp/B001957A26

Saw it at Best Buy today and snapped it up.
Looking at the cover it seemed that it has a nice production behind it but the amazon reviews already told me the movies are mostly transferred from VHS tapes so I can expect shit quality.

One stupid thing I noticed when buying the dvd was that some of the films they list aren't even westerns (Blackie The Pirate, Bulldozer, Kid Stuff). Just goes to show that you can fool the Tarantino audience (whom this dvd is marketed to hence the same GRINDHOUSE font from QT/RR's movie slapped on the cover of this dvd) into buying anything. Sheep.

I bought it mainly so I can have Trinity Sees Red in english. Worth the 10 dollars I suppose.

I told you this over a month ago. Didn't believe me? :D This guy specializes in selling bootleg kung fu movies and has been in business for a number of years. There's been many disgruntled buyers fussing over discs that freeze or simply don't play at all. I bought maybe two discs several years ago and had a skipping problem wherein the disc would jump around chapters.

I remembered but forgot about the disc skips :(

Is this true for all of the dvds?

The kung fu movies, yes. This is the first time I've seen a Video Asia release that wasn't so I can only assume so. As soon as I turned the box over and saw the Video Asia emblem, I quickly put the set back on the shelf. It's very cheap so if you really want that one movie, I'd say it's worth it to the individual. If there was something on there I wanted badly enough, I'd likely spring for it, but most everything on there is mediocre at best I gather from what little I've seen of some of those.

To play it safe I won't be touching their Sartana box set that will be released later next year.

What about me?

Just watched  MAN OF THE WEST.
GREAT LOOKING film but  REAL DISAPPOINTMENT coming from Mann.
Any hopes of a good film were wrecked by lee J. Cobb's horribly hammy performance and the incessant, cliched, and intrusive musical score.
Too bad, for  the ingredients for a first class film were definitely there.
Pretty bloody and sexy for a film of that era though

Not to mention that Coop is older than Cobb even though his character is supposed to be a "boy" compared to Cobb's character.

Other than that... I really liked the movie a lot.

EDIT: I thought DJ didn't like silent films?

Generally true, but I make exceptions for a few silents of unusually high quality. The General is one of those exceptions.
