Signed: "John Ford".

It sems like this dedication was written on a book currently in possession of the Leone's family. But though I've read this on a couple of sources, no mention is made of what the book is nor of the circumstances which led Ford to write the tribute. Anybody knows?

Sounds interesting. All I knew was that Leone had a signed photo of Ford that said something like to my friend Sergio or something to that effect.

I read in Frayling's " Something to do with Death " John Ford autographed a picture of himself wearing over-sized clothes saying " To Sergio Leoni, with admiration. "

Yeah, Woody Strode took care of having Ford sign that picture at a time, apparently, when Ford didn't know who Leone was.

Yeah, and leone said it was marvelous, he was not Leone, but Leoni, which means in Italian that there was not just one Leone but a lot.

I don't think Ford liked Leone's films, provided he ever saw them, of course. He gave the picture to Sergio because Woody Strode asked him to.
