I'm looking for a translator regarding some DVD / Movie business. Help is needed for some research and addressing Japanese companies.
There's money in it too of course...
Please send me a PM for further details.

I think Dave Jenkins could be the man for the job.

I have a French friend living in Japan who might be interested if it's not too time consuming. He has a regular, time-consuming job, but he could like the project. He's always been fascinated by japanese culture, and ended up marrying a japanese. Let me know!

I'm not, but I probably know someone who could be. Do you want someone who can go back and forth between Japanese and English? Japanese and French? All three? I don't think I know anyone who can do Japanese to German.

I can understand the need for a Japanese reader for doing research, but surely you can write to Japanese companies in English, can't you? They must have English-readers on their staff.

No, I need someone familiar with the Japanese way of doing business, addressing people etc. . It's a different culture there, not that easy to enter. I know from others who tried and failed.

A decade ago I would definitely have offered to help. I'm not Japanese but I used to live in Japan, studied the language in school, and was functionally fluent.

However, in the all the years gone by I have forgotten a lot! What specifically do you need help with (pm me if you prefer). I still have friends/contacts out there who might be able to help too.

Yeah, you can PM me with the particulars also, if you wish. Like Novecento, I have contacts in Japan. Also, half of my current co-workers are Japanese. But like all working Japanese, they are very busy. I can't promise anything,  but I can ask on your behalf.
