That's odd. I wonder how they were able to license ZATOICHI'S PILGRIMAGE (#14)? There was a Japanese DVD but no stateside release from either Home Vision or AnimeGo. I think the Weinstein's owned the rights at the time. If they still do, odd that they would relinquish it. A fansubbed disc emerged shortly after the Japanese disc hit several years ago. I bought the LW&C, TRAIL OF BLOOD and Toho ZATOICHI (the AnimeGo set) series box sets a few years ago when deepdiscount was running a massive sale on their Japanese movies. Great movies if occasionally repetitive.

Fans of ZATOICHI should check out Katsu as HANZO THE RAZOR in three films. He plays a constable who uses totally bizarre methods to get his man. He "tortures" women with his "razor", who in turn don't want him to stop. He also lives in a booby trap laden pagoda. The second one is the best, imo. The revered Kenji Misumi directed the first movie. You can check out pics from the series here about halfway down the page...
