Don't you like music with your supper?

« #1217 : May 22, 2006, 03:48:08 PM »

I've just been compiling the results up to Match 185 and i'm putting up the last but one league table tommorow after i've worked it out-only one more week for the last polls to run!
There is one upset i've seen-Cemetery Without Crossess defeating the previously unbeaten The Mercenary which means that its going to be real close between The Mercenary and The Big Gundown.Django has been continuing its relentless recovery by thrashing
everything in sight, but has he left it too late :-[ ?

Price Of Power            17         2            0            19      4
Django Kill                   17         0            2            24      2

2 points for a win
1 point for a draw

The Mercnary takes the lead but Big Gundown has a match in hand.I find it inexplicable that Cemetery Without Crosses which has previously lost 5 matches should suddenly defeat The Mercenary by 4 votes to 2 thus ending its unbeaten run and most probably handing victory to Big Gundown.Perhaps it was a fluke result due to me putting it on at the wrong time when a lot of the Mercenary fans were absent maybe-well theres another week to run yet so you never know! :-\

                           won    drawn     lost     votes   pts
The Mercenary      17         2           1         86      36
Big Gundown         16        1            3         90      33
Django                  15         2            3        103     32
Nobody                  15        2            3         92      32
Companeros          14        3            3         90      31
Cemetery WC        14        1            5         66       29
Great Silence         13        2            5         98       28
Death Rds A Horse  13      1             6        89       27
Face To Face           12       1            7         70      25
Keoma                    11       1            8         69       23

So there you have it folks, the above represent this sites favourite top 10 non-Leone sw's and personally its great to see The Mercenary turn over The Big Gundown(which faltered  badly towards the end) to win this thing and be the top non-Leone sw OFFICIALLY!
However i think its fair to say Django has won the moral victory here-apart from a shaky start its been invincible for so long now with easily the longest unbeaten run right up until the very end of the competition. Its also the only sw to break 100 votes in total and despite the detractors it has proved its worth amongst us Leone Lovers :)
I suppose it comes as no great surprise considering Leones involvement that My Name Is Nobody should finish a very high 4th just ahead of the mighty Companeros. ::)
However i'm never gonna understand how Cemetery Without Crosses has finished 6th above the equally bleak Great Silence with only 66 votes and it looks like i'll have to eat humble pie eh Mr Firecracker? ;D
I expected both Death Rides A Horse and Face To Face to feature somewhere in the top 10  but again i've been surprised at Keoma grabbing the 10th place! :o
So i've come to the end of my journey in my quest to establish this great sites top 10 non-Leone sw's and i would like to thank everyone who participated for their encouragement and patience. There have been several hundred votes cast in what has proved to be a very worthwhile venture for me and i hope alot of you guys.
Heres to the next sw league which i understand Firecracker will be organising in due after he comes back from his break. ;)

Finally here are the placings of the also rans:-
                            won    drawn     lost     votes   pts
Run Man Run          11          1         8          54      23
Sabata                    8           2         10        58      18
Bullet FT General     8           1         11        58      17
Day Of Anger           6           2         12        39      14
Trinity                      4           3          13       38      11
Sartana                   4           2          14       35      10
Hellbenders             4          0           16         31      8
Return Of Ringo       3          1            16      25       7
Price Of Power         3          0            17        23       6
Navajo Joe               2          0            18        23      4
Django Kill                0          2            18        27      2

Banjo, I could have told you so without all this mind-boggling tournament.
Didn't know you were David Blaine in disguise!Perhaps you can send your predictions in an envelope for the next SW league ;D
I will be resurrecting the Germany Football World Cup thread shortly. As far as i'm concerned and i'm certain this also goes for at least the whole of Europe and South America ,winning the World Cup is by far the most important sporting accolade a country can achieve and the Olympics(yawn!) take a very very poor second place.Maybe we shouldn't worry too much that people in the USA as a whole aren't interested as i suspect if they were as football mad as the rest of us they would probably(as in every other sport it seems) beat even the likes of Brazil ::)

Football is the only area of popular entertainment in which USA have no word and the rest of the world doesn't mind. I don't think they would be unbeatable if they'd dedicate themselves to football instead of all those other provincial activities like baseball (american equivalent of cricket) or football (a mystery why they don't call it throwball): the game is played 11 against 11 (well, of late in Italy it has been demonstrated that you can play it also 14 against 11). And Maradona was not, physically, the prototype of american sportsman.
Anyway, as you are going to be, in a sense, the moderator of the thread you're about to resurrect, I propose to ban definitively anyone who may use the word "soccer".

More Corbucci than Leone but i say CWC ;)

Corbucci? I hardly think so. Why? Because of the similarities to TGS?
