I agree TBG, LVC, Tomas Milian, Morricone, Sollima, hands down.

Valleri's film seemed a bit sloppier and uneven, the town sets were empty devoid of extras, wagons and animals, the studio back lot walls can be seen in some shots, a notch below I'd have to rate it a "B+" SW.

I have to agree with everybody so far.

TGB is the better film. Day of anger is great up until the burning down of the saloon, after that it all goes down hill and becomes slow(that is until the finale).

Big Gundown has many faults, but keeps things interesting throughout. though I do believe Day of Anger has better action sequences.
the action in Gundown is not done particularly well(with the exception of the opening gundown and the end gunfight).

but hands down 'The Big gundown' beats 'Day of anger' any day.

and in my humble opinion...the two films are one of the most over hyped films in the genre.

I like Day of Anger too but it doesn't suffer from the same undeserved severe criticism that Big Gundown gets!

Sorry i don't allow for indecisiveness in this poll.I love Death Rides A Horse too but isn't this movie just a Leone clone and a  rehash of FAFDM whereas Big Gundown is more original? What about a Big Gundown versus DRAH poll?

OK i'll do this which is  probably a more effective way of establishing what is the real top ten non-Leone sw favourites among members rather than a poll where we're given a list of westerns where Great Silence and Big Gundown get several votes and any other movie is lucky to get one vote.I'll have to work out some sort of system.

The Big Gundown, I like Milian's acting a bit more than the somewhat wooden style of Law. But both films are about equal other than that.

DRAH, DoA is a bit too uneven, and sloppy.

Don't like to knock DRAH but John Philip Law was a bit one dimensional as LVCs partner in comparison with Manco in FAFDM.Milians a far more entertaining sidekick. The music and finale in TBG are also superior.Looks like this could be a close one though!
