Corbucci made classics and he was a very good director but his editing can be sloppy.

I dont think his editing is the problem, I think his camera work is sloppy.

The only time I felt any sloppyness in his editing was in one scene from Companeros. The scene is in the bank where the Mongo has just agreed to pay the swede half the "treasure" in the safe for the capture and return of Xantos. when Milian walks in and starts up a confrontation with the swede there are several  unprofessional shots of the swede's and vasco's guns cut embarassingly together. It looks like a three year old did it on an "I-movie" editing program.

Yeh, some parts of Companeros look pretty amateurish, but Django looks like a B-movie. Did you ever see it? It's a great movie but it looks so poor. In one scene you can see a cameraman in the background smiling!

Not pertaining to editing, but just the direction, another thing I find embarassing about Companeros is the scene where the villian "John" is introduced. He sends his pet hawk "marsha" to seek out the train the swede is riding on, in order for her to "let them know when the train is near"... Huh
wont you be able to hear that big ass machine coming from miles away? Trains make enough noise to wake the dead!
I am going to believe that John was stoned beyond belief and could not allow the logical thought of being able to hear  trains from great distances.

and to end the entire stuid move...Marsha doesnt even warn them!!!! she arrives AFTER the train entered the station.

If John was high then I think one of his associates would have heard the train. But you're right, trains make a lot of noise, especially the old steam trains.

Though I really liked Companeros and I consider it to be one of the best of the genre.

most definatly. Django is my favorite spaghetti western next to Cemetery without crosses. And yes the production value is very poor and there are plot holes galore...

...for example why is it that Major Jackson sides with the mexican army even though he spends his days killing mexican peons and swearing to "rid the south of mexican scum"(not an actual quote from him, but you get the idea.) Huh Huh Huh....

...but it is still a very fun film. and it just oozes style.

And I never noticed the camera man until my 5th viewing, and I had help locating it from shobary's site, otherwise...I dont think I would have ever noticed it.

Django looks like a B-movie.

All spaghetti westerns are considered "B-movies". Which means nothing. I'll take a spaghetti western over any other "A" action movie that comes out today.

And I just noticed that this poll is on its second page and yet only has one vote. Grin
