Granted I havent been a loyal fan for a good six seasons now, but the SImpsons have been and always will be something dear to my heart. They were a big part of my life as a child and a young teenager...after awhile though...they lost whatever fun and creative comedy they had, this took place roughly around season 11. They started copying other adult animated shows like Family Guy. And their plot lines have gone from simple situation comedy type plots to absurd extravagant plots that you would never have dreamt the simpson creators would produce for there show. For example I heard the latest abomination was Marge "accidentally" getting breast implants.  That doesnt sound simpsons like at all...

Anyway the long awaited movie will be out July 2007. personally I could care less. I am not dripping with excitement for it to come out for I think it will just be another nail in the coffin for the franchise. However I will be in the theatres to watch it just so I can see how it comes out.

The show has been running for 18 seasons now! they have over stayed their visit. Fox should have pulled the plug way back in season 12.

anybody here a simpsons fan?

I say either bring back Futurama! But I would rather they bring back MST3K and if they can't do that, make MST3K The Movie II!

Used to be.  I still like the older episodes (Seasons 2-8 IMO being the show's high point), but I haven't watched the show regularly in three/four years, and the few episodes I have watched have generally (not that there haven't been exceptions) terrible.

I honestly don't see what the point of a "Simpsons" movie would be (besides $, that is).  Anyone?

And BTW - I would love another MST3K movie!  That would make my life. . .  Grin

The Simpsons movie will most definitely rake in the dough, whether the movie is good or not.  When I do tune in to watch new episodes, which is rare, the shows just aren't as good.  The writers have trouble sustaining humor for 25 minutes so I'm questioning how they're going to make a funny 90-minute movie.

As for me, I've become a big fan of Family Guy.  I know it's sort of the "in-thing" to love FG, but I can't get enough of it.  I never thought a character could be dumber than Homer Simpson, but there is one in Peter Griffin.

I enjoy Family Guy as well.
And its true, the simpsons movie will probably be the biggest grossing film of 2007.

I've never been able to get into "Family Guy", it's not really my kind of humor.

Groggy, I've found with a lot of people that you either love or hate Family Guy.  There's very little in between.  So I guess what I'm saying is this, you're not the only one.  My Dad for one doesn't understand why I find it so funny.

Personally, I think tht the Simpsons is the best TV programme of all time.  But granted, it is nowhere near as funny as it used to be.  The early series were packed with classic gags.  It lost its way when it became too obsessed with celebrity guests.

Hmm, well there quite a few TV programs I like:

- All of the "Blackadder" series (particularly the 2nd one)
- Older "Simpsons"
- MST3K (of course)
- Seinfeld
- Everybody Loves Raymond (well, maybe that doesn't belong in quite the same category as the above, but I still find it funny)

I also like numerous other animated shows, including:
- Rocko's Modern Life
- Spongebob Squarepants (certain episodes anyway)
- The Angry Beavers
- Used to like "Invader ZIM" but I've seen the show too many times

As most of the board's older members know, I used to love "The X-Files" and "The West Wing", but I no longer watch those on a regular basis.
