I think the true villians are the bastards who poorly marketed and severely edited this fine film.

Every Leone film for that matter. Once Upon a Time in the West and America were severly edited down. I wish I could get my hands on these knucklheads who decided to ruin these films upon theatrical release! >:(

Yes, Leone already had a fine editer. He didn't need another.

Also, I think the other villian is John's conflict with himself. I loved the flashback sequences. It seems John or Sean and his friend who could be Sean were revollutionaries, and were both in love with the same girl, Mallory is betrayed possibly over jealously and it all ends in a bloody judgement. And he comes to Mexico to escape, and joins the revolution with Juan to confront it. And he finally comes to his senses at his last moment of life. And BOOM!

These guys should be lined up against a wall & shot, not only did they F up the films but they effectively F'ed up the man's career, and WE fans are the ultimate losers.

Yes sir cigar! I'm with you my friend. I wish Leone could see how people have excepted his work today. It's more popular than ever.

Maybe the "Revolution" is the villian, no?

Cigar, good point and so it was as it is what united the two characters, sadly.

What is even more astonishing is the variety of age differences on this board who are Leone fans, truly remarkable and a fine testimony to the director he was..

You know I couldn't believe that most of the people on here are were closer to my age. I thought you would all be older. Perhaps I thought you were wise beyond your years.

I can't believe the age differences as well. Recently someone registered that was 11 years old. That's amazing!

Anyone else think that's a bit fishy/unbelievable?
