Why do some of you call John Mallory "Sean"?

First, I'd say it is "Shawn", and second to me it's quite obvious that Shawn is his friend in Ireland.

If Coburn's character's real name is "Sean"(which I dont think is the case) it should be spelled Sean not "Shawn"(the anglo version)

I could be mistaken as it was translated to "Shawn" in portuguese.

There was a bit of debate about John/Sean on the forum last year, if you want to read the board's opinions on the matter. It starts here, with a bit of cross referencing to another thread:

http://www.fistful-of-leone.com/forums/index.php?topic=10.60

"Sean" is the Gaelic spelling of the name, as in "Sean Connery".

What does "Juan" translate as in English?

In Italian they have somehow managed to drag out good old honest "John" to "Giovannie", bless 'em.

Juan is translated to John in English.

And the Irish (or "Eereesh", as Juan Miranda calls them) translation of "John" is...?
