Went to see the new mission impossible film last night. its not great. their are some great action sequences in it but its a cheese fest. it was a shame as it had some great chances but it always went for the safe option. shame.

The first one was not a bad film at all. In fact I thought the first 15 minutes was quite daring. They killed off the whole team leaving Ethan alone! That was ballsy. never saw the sequel.

This one looks ok. Nice action sequences for sure.

the first film is good as action films go, don't bother with the 2nd or 3rd.

The second one had very well shot action sequences.... when john woo does his best, he can shoot very well... even if he will never be able to write some good dialogues....

I was a moderate fan of the first and second MI films and had planned to see the third tonight. Now I'm having second thoughts.

Saw it the other night at a preview and tend to agree with your assessment, Indio. I thought some of the action stuff was pretty good and I really liked the scene where the team breaks into the Vatican city, but to describe it as a cheese fest is dead-on. A shame. I hated the second one but I thought the original was pretty good, mainly because De Palma managed to bring some stylish direction to the piece. And I don't know about anyone else, but I just can't take Tom Cruise seriously anymore. He seems more like a mannequin than a human being.

I used to love that original tv series which hasn't been on British screens for decades. :(
I've only seen bits of the movies through flicking over channels and for me they fail to capture the magic of the tv series.I prefer the old characters compared to todays pretty boys.

I thought the first one was a good thriller, but it did take till the 3rd or 4th time for me to figure out the plot or what was going on.

MI: 2 was good, but not great.  Visually, it was a beautfiul movie, and I did like the soundtrack, the score and songs combined.

I'll probably end up seeing MI: 3 in theaters at some point, even though its getting pretty average reviews.

The Prisoner was an old British TV show starring Patrick McGoohan. It's about a retired secret agent who's taken to a quaint seaside town known as The Village where information is extracted from it's "citizens." Very odd futuristic show.

I saw it last night. Awesome if you ask me. If you call it cheesy I say, ya, it's Mission Impossible, it's supposed to be cheesy.

I haven't seen the other two so it was hard to be disappointed.
