I'm gratified that so may people around here seem to "get" Three Burials.  I've mentioned it elsewhere and frequently get the kind of response that confuses thoughtful with boring.   Tongue

saw it last night. an ok movie. don't think I'll watch it again anytime soon tho. and even tho I didnt find the movie boring, it was a bit too "quiet" as someone above me called it.

bump bump.

I took courage and rented the dvd. I'm halfway though it and fighting with sleep. Exactly as I had imagined it: boring to no end. Nothing happening but with this new hollywoodian trick of copying Tarantino copying Godard's trick of  mixing up temporarily the events to make an irrelevant story significant.
I'll check the other half, though: the women are worth more than a look.

I almost didn't make it to the 2nd half. Yes, a little bit more alive, but little.

Two things: the Morricone's quotation and Levon Helm's appearance: as I had last seen him in Last Waltz can you imagine I didn't get him at first and had to check him back. I'd say he's ready for a horror appearance, without make up. He can couple with Keith Richards...

The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada - it come to the hungarian cinemas only now.

It's a great film. It has very much "intertextual" connects from Antigone to Alfredo Garcia. Acting is very good (I fell in love with Julio CÚsar Cedillo Kiss Smiley), the story is simple, but great. Hard, naturalistic, absurd, poetic and a story of honour. I liked it.
We needed more films like this, and not film with stars, shootin', boom!, monstas and sematic stories.

I feeled I was seeing somethin' that Bloody Sam would have been liked...

Old blind man rocks! He's a great character. Like the "little, funny ol' men" in SWs.
His lines are great.

I like that bizarre, dark humour of the movie.
