I give The Godfather part II a very, very slight edge over Once Upon A Time In America. Godfather II is my third favorite movie. OUATIA is my fourth. But I still probably need to see OUATIA again.

well you are on a Leone forum so the votes will most likley lean towards OUATIA.

I did the predictable thing and voted for OUATIA.

Godfather is not as awe inspiring as everybody claims it to be.

"Godfather II", though all three are in my top ten.

I think The Godfather movies are great movies but they're not huge and epic like everyone makes them out to be.

The Godfather movies and OUATIA are, IMO, the closest things there are to epics in the crime genre (especially OUATIA.)

OUATIA is the definition of epic.   Grin

My favorite film of all time is OUATITW but OUATIA is a close second.

Well, I'd like to add "Casino" to the list.  Dunno why but I think that's considerably better than "Goodfellas", which is very episodic whereas "Casino" has a straightforward plot.  Also it has Pesci and De Niro as the leads rather than supporting Ray Liotta - plus I like the soundtrack of "Casino" better.  Grin

OUATITW is my favorite movie as well. I need to see OUATIA again. And Godfather part II. They're always switching places between third and fourth on my top ten. I want to make a definitive decision on which is better.

But, I think the definition of epic is Lawrence of Arabia.

Well, no disagreement here, but that isn't really a crime film, is it?

I agree with Groggy. I don't think Casino is better than Goodfellas, but it's as good. If one is in consideration, the other should be too.

My favorites list is constantly changing, except for #1 which will ALWAYS be OUATITW. But my second favorite movie is now 2001: A Space Odyssey.

No. But it's still the definition of epic.

What a coincidence. Right now 2001 is my fifth favorite.
