I for one cannot see anybody else in the role of Juan Miranda besides Steiger. BUT I thought it would be interesting to see how Milian would have differed. They both over act a bit in each of there films and they both are method actors...so...would he have been a good if not better choice?

comments? opinions?

OH! And Franco Nero as John!

Even though Coburn is cooler than ice, I still would like to see that.

NO NO NO!
Coburn was perfect for that role, with or without a bad accent. Wink

It's not the accent, it's just if they had Tomas Milian playing Juan, I can definitely see Nero playing John. It's the perfect match for a buddy picture.

But nobody can top Steiger and Coburn. It's just an interesting thought.

I personally liked Steiger's performance. Some say over the top in some scenes, but I say his acting style allowed the viewer to feel the passions that were intrinsic to Juan's
character. I still believe it was a highlight in his long career.
Coburn...again I thought he fit the character well.
Bottom line for me...leave perfection alone. Just MHO.

that goes for me as well. But I was just speaking for others who surprisingly didnt like Steiger in this.

I think DYS is the best film those two (Coburn, Steiger) have ever done.

Firecracker,

Sometimes there is just no accounting for taste.

as much as I would like to believe that...

that is not so...

sometimes I may seem heavily opinionated on something (and I may come off as a jerk) but at the end of the day no matter how wrong or stupid I think a persons opinion is I still accept it as a valid one. We are all different after all.

Sometimes there is just no accounting for taste.
I should have concluded that sentence with Wink.
I certainly don't want to insult anyone in the group.
I guess it is just my quirky sense of humor trying to surface.

I still think the Milian/Nero partnership as Juan and John would've worked.

Well, hmmm.

I hate remakes but I think it's a good idea in a situation like DYS where the movie is not known and a remake is made to increase it's popularity. But it has to be done right, not like that horrible Honeymooners remake!!!   Angry
