Jerksi is selling a decent widescreen version of "The moment to kill".

http://cgi.ebay.com/MOMENT-TO-KILL-Spaghetti-Western-NEW-2-35-LBX-NO-SUBS_W0QQitemZ190016610186QQihZ009QQcategoryZ617QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

up until now there had only been a crappy pan&scan version with forced subs.

looks like member indio9 has had a bid in already.

Despite what Shobary says about Moment To Kill i don't think this movie is up to scratch in comparison to other Carmineo sw's starring George Hilton(Hallelujah and Fistful of Lead are miles better) but i don't suppose seeing a widescreen version would hurt! ::)

really? everybody seems to be praising it.
I didnt really think much of "hallelujah".
"Fistful of lead" is fun despite being the worst in the Sartana series.

also saw "they call him cemetery" which was pretty average in my book. not enough of the good characters (Garko and Berger).

Who's everybody?
Hilton is a bit dull in this one and with Walter Barnes this doesn't make for the most entertaining partnerships. This film appears to be made on a lower budget than some of Carmineos other sw's and some of the sequences come over as tired rehashes of what he achieved with the likes of Sartana,Hallelujah & Holy Ghost.

NO WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!! :o
And they must be punished! ;D
Even big Hilton fan, Mrs Banjo, retired to bed early when i last put this on.I've still got the Return of Hallelujah and Man Called Invincible(in German-i was robbed :'( )  in my "to view" pile to watch fairly soon, and theres also Dick Luft In Sacremento i'm searching out for,but i'd rate Carmineos sw's in the following order:-

1.LIGHT THE FUSE...SARTANA IS COMING
2.HAVE A GOOD FUNERAL...SARTANA WILL PAY
3.THEY CALL ME HOLY GHOST
4.THEY CALL HIM CEMETERY
5.I AM SARTANA YOUR ANGEL OF DEATH
6.THEY CALL ME HALLELUJAH
7.FISTFUL OF LEAD
8.MOMENT TO KILL
9.FIND A PLACE TO DIE

Perhaps the pan & scan and annoying forced subtitles turned her off to the whole affair?

Well that wasn't a problem for Holy Ghost and anyway i've also got the English vhs of Moment To Kill(pan & scan) without subtitles.I wasn't warned when i bought the dvd >:(
Anyway we watched a very rough(sourced from a knackered video) dvd of Return Of Hallelujah last night(i definately recommend you seeing the original in English)
-its just about watchable.I'm gonne sit through it again so i can maybe do a write up,but with this one,Carmineos gone all out for full blown slapstick here, maybe not one of his best  :-\
What i said about Moment To Kill being a rehash is incorrect as i see it was made in 1968(Carmineos 2nd following Find A Place To Die?) so i guess it maybe a case of (like Leone with FOD) Carmineo honing his style for the future glories of Sartana etc. :)

Yeah I'm interested in the "Heads you die ...." sequel even though the first was less then stellar. :-\
I'll enjoy it more without subtitles I'm sure.

Arizona Colts review:-

IL MOMENTO DI UCCIDERE- THE MOMENT TO KILL

George Hilton, Horst Frank

Lord (Hilton) and his side kick Bull are hired out to find and return $500,000 in Confederate gold after the end of the Civil War. There only lead is a
letter written by a crippled young woman. They run afoul of villainous Jason Forester (Frank) who wants the gold for his own means. It all culminates in many double crosses and a surprise ending.

A surprisingly effective Euroater directed with flair by Guiliano Carnimeo who normally specialized in increasingly prat fall humored and cartoonish westerns, here is quite serious with the material. This was early in his career so I assume his later transition was either to his own liking or possibly
forced on him by producers in the wake of the TRINITY films.

There are many action scenes and the participants, save for one shot of Hilton reloading, appear to have pistols capable of firing off 20 or more shots. It's
quite dramatic but gets silly after awhile. There are a few one liners on hand but silly antics are absent and the film never delves into the dark tragedy
that is BULLET FOR SANDOVAL, probably my fave Hilton movie. Horst Frank is suitably nasty as the villain.

You can get this from Luminous Film and video Wurks in NY for $10 bucks. The print is from german VHS and the quality is good. A version taken from the
original reels should be out now or forthcoming.

I agree with AC and Banjo. Carmineo gave his best with more comedic material. Not a single touch of originality, you saw it all before. Not a failure but not a success. You watch it once and no more.

AC said he liked it.

Not a bad movie. Probably the most subdued camera work in any Carnimeo film.
As Titoli's says it goes through the motions and is guilty of being bland in spots.
May be slow moving for some but others may find it riveting. I fall somewhere between those two.
  :D Bizarre ending :D
