I agree with Angel Heart. Alien, The Thing (Carpenter) are great. I also love the old James Whale films:Frankenstein, Bride Of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man. Then, of course, there is Psycho.

Ring (Japanese original)
Suspiria
Wicker Man
Nosferatu
Night of the Living Dead
28 Days Later

There's a new Japanese horror in the same vein as Ring coming out soon - can't remember the name Ju- something. Should be good.

It's class.

HALLOWEEN
THE EVIL DEAD
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (Romero, B&W)

The Exorcist and Misery, movies that made me keep an eye open when I went to bed the nights I first saw them.
