I agree with Angel Heart. Alien, The Thing (Carpenter) are great. I also love the old James Whale films:Frankenstein, Bride Of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man. Then, of course, there is Psycho.

Ring (Japanese original)
Suspiria
Wicker Man
Nosferatu
Night of the Living Dead
28 Days Later

There's a new Japanese horror in the same vein as Ring coming out soon - can't remember the name Ju- something. Should be good.

Cool I really like horror movies, they make perfect date flicks and it's always fun to see people jump when YOU know when the scare is coming! LIST! -

RE-ANIMATOR
DEMONS a.k.a. DEMONI
THE THING (CARPENTER)
HALLOWEEN
THE EVIL DEAD
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (Romero, B&W)
DOG SOLDIERS
JAWS
THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE
DAWN OF THE DEAD (2004. it IS better than the original)

The Exorcist and Misery, movies that made me keep an eye open when I went to bed the nights I first saw them.
