anyone seen this? it's the closest thing to a western produced by norwegians.

it's pretty good. takes place 1000 years ago. the opening is pretty reminiscent of the slaughter in ouatiw. a family is slain, the surviving member must flea from the killers, finds a camp. but there he is not too popular as the camp fears he may have brought the killers to their camp. they decide to go to another camp by the coast to seek refuge. the survivor stays behind to avenge his family, but things take a different turn.

1 of only 5 norwegian movies to get an oscar nomination. ya'll should try to check it out.

I just watched the trailer at:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/trailers/

it doesnt look remotly like a remake, even tho they claim it is.
do yourself a favor, watch the old one. I can guarantee it's much better. this new movie looks like it takes place in a fantasy world. the great thing about ofelas is it's realism.

I mention myself that it sheds a similarity to "Lord of the rings".
I'll see if I can find "Ofelas".

when was it made?

It's not a W but it's a rather good (and exotic) drama-adventure, that really takes its time to show you the cards. Sometimes it's hard to understand whether some of the characters were really intended to be as enigmatic or it's just the bad acting/directing. The Tchude leaders - was there two or three of them? Twins of triplets? Undecided

I just realized that this is available in R2 from amazon.de, apparently with English subtitles. Cool!

The tiniest subtitles I ever saw.

Haven't seen this in years but can't remember any twins. Any bad acting might be because most of the roles are filled by local samii people. The movie was also shot in temperatures as low as -47c.
According to wikipedia they had brought in stuntmen from the latest James Bond movie at the time but they refused to work when they realized what condition they'd work in Smiley

The movie is available for streaming:

It is very possible, I'm afraid. The subtitles on my copy are minuscule, I've had a real hard time reading them and at the same time following what's going on screen. There's either something wrong with my DVD player (that I haven't noticed before), or I got a bum DVD.

Anyways, two of the main Tchude boys looked really alike to me, with the possibility of another one. But as I said I might very well be wrong.

Yeah it figures, Bond-James-Bond is just a dandy anyway. Evil

I just quickly checked this version: it has normal subtitles.
