When Tuco is escorted to the Union army train by Wallace (Mario Brega), the fat man makes reference to Tuco and Blondies former grifting days in the beginning of the film...

" you'll get a proper rope with a noose on it, and you wont have any partner this time to shoot you down".

How does Wallace know of this? Did Angel Eyes recount the time he witnessed one of their scams to Wallace?

Maybe.

But I think the best explanation is simply the newspapers and local gossip. If you were watching an execution and some stranger shoots up the place to rescue the convict, you would certainly be talking about it for a while.

I just think Angel Eyes told Wallace what a no good dirty rat he was.

I agree. It never bothered me, I always thought it was like this.

There are two kinds of films in this world:those which stay, even when their genre is forgotten, and those which don't.

I was curious about that too...
but here what is really interesting:
1)where is wallace taking tuco?and why isn't he going with angel eyes to pick up the gold?
-if angel eyes wanted tuco dead he could just shoot him back in the camp, knowing him this woudn't represent a great deal for him...
but i think something else is going on here, angel eyes didn't want to share the gold with anybody(not even wallace) so this was a clean way to get rid of tuco and wallace at the same time, and if wallace after delivering tuco had eventually returned to the camp angel eyes would already been gone...
2)when tuco pushes wallace out of the train, how come that no one saw that and stopped the train?
-cause you can clearly see the soldiers sitting in the wagon behind, and there were some soldiers even in the wagon they were in...

 Huh

who knows, maybe they threw dead men from trains, or they were all enlisted men and didn't care for Serg. Wallace anyway and thought he got his comeuppence.

Perhaps it wasn't really up to them to stop the train. Their not engineers...

I just think Tuco's going to a different prison to be hanged. Army laws or something.

Well if you notice in the flat car behind Tuco and Wallace, they're mostly Confederate prisoners ( don't remember seeing any Union soldier ). None of the Confederates liked Wallace, so they probably thought like Cigar Joe said he got his comeuppence.

1)i know, but when so many people see someone fall from the train they don't just stay mute,if they wanted, the word of that could have easily arrived to the engineers, and they would have stopped the train, don't you think?

2)no doubt about that, but the point is that wallace was angel eyes's partner in crime back in the camp and he wouldn't let angel eyes flee away with 200.000 dollars like taht, angel eyes probably sent him away so that he can calmly collect the money,
he double-crossed him just like that

The Joe Millard book on this I think points to Wallace taking Tuco to a town to collect the reward money then he is to rejoin Angel Eyes.
but maybe Angel eyes knows that Tuco is a survivor and is more than capable of getting rid of the problem of Wallace, lets face it Angel eyes dose't want to share the gold with his gang so if he can work it so Blondie and Tuco wipe his bad buddies out then all he has to do is kill Blondie and Tuco.
I would even say that his offer to blondie about not being greedy and only taking half was pretty genuine when he made it thinking Blondie would help him get rid of the gang but when Tuco turns up again he realises that Blondie has got a soft spot for the Rat so he has to kill them both.
Its so crazy what greed does to people, in them days 200,000 dollars was a lot of money more than enough for a good three way split.
But that is the beauty of this film never in cinimatic history has greed been shown so well by an actor, Eli must have had Leone having orgasms with his portrayal of Tuco.
If Tuco could have got away with it he would have murdered the other two for all the money, just look at the part when he gets his hands on the gold its like the best sex he has ever had and even when he is left hanging he cannot think of anything but the gold laying at his feet even though he is moments from hanging.
Oh for gods sake lets have some positive ideas on a sequel for The Good the Bad and the ugly must have Clint and Eli in it.
If Clint wants another hit Western this must be it and if the make up guys can make Fonda look so young then our to crooks will look pretty good.

GBU sequel? It's a great idea...

But Hollywood will take over and corrupt the project. It'll be filmed in the states, no more than an 1 1/2 hours long, Blondie will turn into a soft Robert DuVall western character, and Blondie and Tuco will end up throwing the money away realizing friendship is more important than greed.

Oh hell, they might turn it into " The Good and the Ugly on Brokeback Mountain. "   Shocked

If that day comes I WILL blow my brains out with a Magnum.

Yes and Tuco will say to Blondie as they share a bed roll under the stars
"Hey Blondie sweetie next time you take me I want more than half, I run the risks".

They have just started showing Hairyback mountain on Sky movies and it makes me feel violent just seeing it advertised.
not only have Hollywood disowned the west they have also brought shame down on us who love the Western.
As soon as anyone knows you love Westerns they ask your opinion of Hairyback mountain.
The sooner THAT movie is consigned to the trash can the better
