, but i'm not sure it would have won the palm.
An other point is that Leone himself refused to show ouatia in competition since he has seen that there were "international pressions" in canne (i'm not sure you will anderstand what i'm trying to explain...).
Yes I do ,
I did'nt know this Leone's opinion about Cannes and others competitions but surely he was right ..
About OUATIA I agree with you because jury and critics was not ready in 1984 to admit for the first time that Sergio was a great and serious Director.
But many French critics already were very enthusiastics and one of them in the same article evoked about him :
Famous Directors:
Party Girl and Nick RAY
Taxi Driver (Scorcese)
Heaven's gate (Cimino)
Gloria N and Fellini
Les Anges aux figures sales (I have forgotten the original U.S title)
and famous authors
Gatsby (Scottt F.)
Confession of an Opium eater (De Quincey ?)
Le temps retrouvé (Marcel Proust)
this critic said also:" people laugh about OUATIA as a Godfather part 3 ,it's not true Godfather is an overrated family and policy saga , OUATIA is a bet of the imagination"
Not so bad !
