The world is small... About year ago I even wouldn't expect to realise that it have been released in America.

I think I could add that the song is sang by Karel Gott, young in that time - not that I like him, but he's probably our most famous singer (but who knows) and he sings really well. But I like better one song sang by Waldemar Matuka. (He was one of the "kids" - I think Banjo Kid in the list above, but it's "Coyotte Kid" in Czech, I think it was him.)

Boardwalk Angel, haven't you got the English lyrics for songs in this film? I would like to compare it with the original...

I have the lyrics to "Arizona".......sung by Winnifred
Arizona, Arizona that's where
aII true men come from.
Cards fIip-fIipping, buIIets buzzing.
Cows moo-mooing fuII of feeIing.
I'm happy and content
as a fish in it's eIement.
The race of Arizona men
are poIite to us women.
GentIemen with a bIow
teach ruffians manners before they know.
And in the course of progress
shoot from the hip and never miss.

Thanks! It's very close, except these small differences:
Arizona, that's zone of all true men. (to rhyme, because zone = zóna... I didn't translate it literally, because the order of words is different.)
I feel in that coziness as a fish...
The word "us" isn't in the original, as well as the "before they know" and "never miss"
The English words are shorter, so they probably needed to put in more of them.

This is not so close, probably for the reason I mentioned last... shorter words, so more of them, more sentences. But the meaning is the same, of course.

I realised - you probably don't get the meaning of Horace Badman's nickname. Hogo Fogo is used in Czech for someone who's living on high standard of living, showing it to others - and maybe actually not having enough money for it, not being actually well-behaved for it, or so.

Tried this the other day,I could only stand it for 10 minutes.I don't like silent comedy.
But after rereading this thread i might try and endure the remainder just to try and fathom what all the fuss is about.

First of all, it's not silent comedy.
Try it. I hope you'll get it this time. Though I don't know what the translation does to it; maybe it's one of the reasons you didn't like it. Maybe the translation doesn't bring out the... overactedness? - of the whole thing. I don't think actually it's the best word...

Well as BA(she sent to me the disc, bless her) said it's inspired by silent comedy and certainly looks like one!
But i will try it.

True, but a lot of the humour lies in what's being said, and that's definitely not a silent comedy's feature.
