THATS AWESOME.But i cant read it.Could some1 translate it?
Here you go:
- "Who was Sergio Leone for you?"
- Raffaella Leone: "A father whom I loved dearly. And so did he. An authoritarian figure, but in a strange way: he didn't impose anything, but he lead you where he wanted you to go. Like he did with his actors, who always respected his authority"
- "And how was it for you children to live with a movie director as a father?"
- RL: "For us it was normal to have movie stars at home, great men like Clint Eastwood. I know my father said the famous phrase that Clint had just two expressions: one with his hat on and one without. But I believe that since he has worked with him for so long, he knew there was something special about him. So it was just a joke, my father had a great sense of humour. Anyway Clint showed how talentful he was by becoming a great director himself."
- "What was Leone's favourite movie among his own movies?"
RL: "The next one he would have shot, for sure. But I believe the most important one for him was OUTIA. He suffered for this movie and it took him a long time to make it. There was a lot about himself in this movie, even in the female roles."
- "And the one he loved the least?"
RL: "DYS, at least before he started shooting it. He didn't want to shoot it, just to be the producer. Then he was somehow forced to do it, the cast was ready. In truth, already then he was after OUTIA".
- "And you are now working on OUTIA, isnt'it?"
- RL: "Yes, in close cooperation with SKY we want to restore 40 minutes of scenes we have found, for example a scene with Louise Fletcher, who won an Oscar for "One flew over the cuckoo's nest"; this scene disappeared in the final cut. But let's be clear: we will not re-edit the movie, which will be left as my father wanted it. We would like to show however, for instance at a film festival, these interesting scenes never seen before. Maybe even introduced by somebody important like Quentin Tarantino".
- "Now however it's time for FFDM..."
- RL: Yes, also because this film badly needed to be restored. We wanted it to be shown in the Sala Grande theatre and we made it!"
- "Just one last curiosity: which was the female role in his movies that your father liked best?"
- RL: "Claudia Cardinale in OUTIW".
Editor's note: the restored version of FFDM was actually not only screened at the Venice Film Festival, but it was also shown a few days ago on SKY in Italy in High Definition. But since yours truly does not own an HD decoder, I was unable to see it.
I doubt however that the restored version includes previously unseen scenes, I think it was just a matter of restoring the movie.
