This was on TCM the other night, wasn't it? I can't imagine it as being worse than Freaks.

Saw it years ago on television. It's a musical, too, if I remember right. Couldn't finish it. It's nowhere as awful as the Italian western, KID TERROR OF THE WEST which substitutes children for midgets.

FREAKS is a classic. Afro

I don't get Freaks. It has mild curios value but little else. Maybe if the stars could act I'd like it more.

It "freaked" me out as a kid and still is a strong movie in its use of the special individuals. The ending is especially unsettling most notably the performer with no arms or legs crawling along the ground with a big knife between his teeth in an effort to kill the villainous trapeze starlet. The doc on the WB dvd was longer than the film itself! I didn't think the acting was all that bad and really no different from any other film from that time period. It was a different time and performances then were often more stagy as opposed to decades after.

Yeah that's the guy who always gets brought up. I didn't find him particularly interesting either.

The acting was just atrocious, I don't care how you slice it.

Tod Browning's Freaks is a very intelligent and daring movie, it still is a true classic and a very important movie in the history of cinema. Granted, it is not the most entertaining movie ever made, but if you're willing to dig in its psychology you can see how remarkable it is. The Terror of Tiny Town is, on the other hand, a lurid commercial exploitation of a certain population's disability. It is not even funny or well written, let alone directed. Let's face it: the only reason one watches it is because all the stars are dwarfs/midgets, and they are, apparently, very funny. Or so we are led to believe. As are crippled people, ill people or people with other forms of disability. Unless, of course, it happens to you or someone you care about, right?

Boring as hell. The females are all ugly, so you don't even have that +. Apparently it should go hand in hand with  Harlem Rides the Range. 0\10
