Everybody seems enthusiatic about it at IMDB. I think the movie is too little action packed to earn much distinction. Still it's a must see for Widmark's performance ( I saw it dubbed, though) and his portrait of an aging sheriff who can't seem to be able to cope with modern times.   The movie was shot on a SW budget but it never gives the impression of being poor.

I don't ever remember seeing this one, but reading the comments on IMDb I do remember a film with Lena Horn, so I may have seen it once.

It takes itself too seriously and has a generic TV show score that devalues Widmark's performance. Many of the minor characters are obnoxious, and the last half hour drags on.

You can pretty much tell what scenes Siegel directed.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre. What did you think of the script?
