Basil Poledouris who made the music for movies such as robocop, the hunt for red october and conan the barbarian has died. I've never heard of him before, but thought maybe kurugen would want to hear this ;)

also, Ed Bradley has died. the guy from 60 mins. too bad, I liked him.

  Basil Poledouris did one of my favorite western scores for Lonesome Dove.  He also does a rousing score for Quigley Down Under.  He'll be missed.  RIP

Generally, a composer of pompous scores. However, his music for Starship Troopers worked well, if for no other reason than that film's ironic approach needed a pompous score.

I knew about Bradley but not Basil Poledouris, very sad news  :'(
