In fact, I DID have quite a bit of shochu last night, something called iichico (I think it's made from straw). When I learned how delicious the freshly squeezed juice of kabosu is (a citrus fruit from Kyushu) when mixed with the hooch I could not stop drinking. I love these cultural exchanges!
No, I'm in Tokyo, but my host last night was originally from Kyushu.
