A Sean Penn movie. Incredible. I had read the book, which is one of the fundamental police stores. Can't say Penn is a original director. He does his homework, that's all. But is Nicholson's performance that must be seen. He's great. Unfortunately I saw the movie dubbed: but the dubber was Giannin, which is a show in himself, so I didn't lose much, I presume.

From your review of "Mystic River" I would have  thought someone of your elite taste would have despised anything that Sean Penn had to do with.

No, I tell you: Giannini is an actor in the same class as Nicholson. At a point toward the end actually I thought he dubbed Nicholson even phisically, so strong is their resemblance. Of course undubbed would have been better.
