It's perfect timing, large one...

I think they both are masterpieces.

- In Yojimbo, when the hero is leaving the city in a coffin, one of the bandits helps the old man...  ;D ;D ;D
- In Yojimbo there isn't an armor... :(
- Ramón is much, much better and more sexy than the japanese bandit with a gun. O0
- Well, Mifune is greater actor than Clint, but the charakter doesn't need so much acting...he's just cool.
- Yojimbo is much satiric, bandtis are ridicolous figures, FOD is filled with good lines, but the bandits are not caricatured...
- In Yojimbo we haven't the cemetery scene with the dead soldiers.

Something like that. I also liked the bandit helping with the coffin! ;D ;D ;D

There are two kinds of films in this world:those which stay, even when their genre is forgotten, and those which don't.

Definatetly  FOD

It comes down to visual style for me. While i enjoy SW, in particular Leone films, i don't like samuri films.
I'm not saying FOD is a better film~i just prefer it.

Re-watched today both, Yojimbo first and than FOD. I must say, FOD is better. Yojimbo is not so artistic like other Kurosawa movies, and the final duel is not so good composed as in FOD.
Japanese bad guy is... sissy.  ;D

I love them both but personally i prefer FOD for 2 reasons
1. i like the pacing in FOD. It wasn't too slow or too fast, it kept a moderate pace

2. The Final duel: I prefer the style and tension of FOD than that of yojimbo.

But honestly theyre both really awesome.

I think Yojimbo's a better film.

That said, its awesome looking at the way Leone adapted it, to the smallest detail.  Like changing the Toothpick to the Cigar!

That's Leone for you. Apdapting things to the smallest detail as you said Gentleman! I honestly hate the comparison's of these two films because they're really not that similar. Yes Leone borrowed the plot, but he changed things drastically different. It's not really a remake pursay. Christopher Frayling explains this on the Fistful SE DVD. I think he's right.

Anyway, welcome to the forum Gentlemen!
