The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953)

Yeah this brings back good memories. Though I watched them a few decades after their prime they were still exciting enough to animate those damned, boring, never-ending, rainy, cold, winter weekends. Which ones? - Couldn't tell you precisely; seen one, seen them all.

This is a solid one I'd say. The special effects were not all that bad. Sure, can't be compared to today's standards but miles ahead of schlock such as The Giant Claw, that actually came a few years later. They go beating around the bush more than once, yeah, but it's still fairly interesting and entertaining.

Watch out for a young LVC.

(around) 6.5/10

The Thing From Another World (1951) It has a good start, with very good dialogues and a great set on the snow for the flying saucer. But when the action moves to the base  and the phantastic side takes over it shows all the limits of the screenplay which just doesn't stand to reason. Arness is a bad copy of Karloff's Frankestein's monster and is simply ridiculous or boring as most of the characters (the girl is very good looking though) and dialogues. Still it is worth a watching. 6\10
