The Dirty Dozen.

Now, where does this come from: "New Providence, Fort Nassau, the second Battle of Trenton, The Bonhomme Richard and the Serapis--"I have not yet begun to fight"--Tripoli in eighteen-hundred and five, Nuku Hiva in 1812, the Battle of Hatchee-Lustee River in 1837, Veracruz in '46, Chapultepec, the halls of Montezuma, Panama in '85, Guatanamo Bay in '98, then the Philippines, the Boxer Rebellion in China, Nicaragua, Coyotepe Hill, Ft. Riviere in Haiti, then Chateau-Thierry, Belleau Wood, the charge at Soissons, Saint-Mihiel, and now Wake Island, Guam, Bataan . . . Corregidor . . . Guadalcanal. . . . They bled and died."

Judging by the fact that it stops at Guadal Canal (first land victory for the US Marines in the Pacific theater) I'd have to say its from Flags of Our Fathers (though I don't remember hearing that)

It was probably 1898 and 1885, unless you can think of what war we fought against Cuba in 1998.

Whoops again. Just saw the '98 not the Guatanamo Bay part. But I still have no idea

Well, no one is going to get this one it seems (Sanjuro, where are you?) It's Hail the Conquering Hero (1944), classic Sturges.
