THAT WAS GREAT!!!!!   I had a great time.

First: Firecracker ( with a friend ) and Cigar Joe and his wife met me and my dad at Virgil's at 4 pm. We stood at the bar chit-chatting then we went upstairs to have dinner. We all had a good time sitting at the table and talking about westerns, finding out more about each other.

We split up and went our seperate ways for the last 15 minutes before 7 ( that's when everyone was allowed to go into Radio City ).

the concert was great. It was only 2 hours and yet, it felt like 2 minutes. It went by way too fast. The best song was Once Upon a Time in America, but they were all fantastic. Every song made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. When it was over, everyone gave him a standing ovation and screamed for more! He gave THREE encores!!! Each time he got a huge amount of applaud and random people screaming "VIVA MAESTRO!!!" Everyone loved Ennio.

I had a fantastic time, and I'll never forget this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I also took some photos but most of them came out pretty bad. I'll post them anyway ( once Firecracker teaches me how to ).

Thank you for the first report, Peacemaker. It's good to hear the immediate scoop of the concert. I can feel the excitement.

Meeting the members in persons for the first time itself must have been exciting too. I wonder what kind of impression you guys had from seeing each other.

How many pieces did Morricone play? Did he play OUTIW and Ecstacy of Gold too? Maestro's music with the grand orchestra must have sounded fantastic at the Radio City Music Hall!.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it - and I know that like-2-minutes thing very well...

I hope you'll write more, it's all too interesting. Wink

Was the concert sold-out?

Sorry for all the questions, but inquiring minds need to know Wink

Yes it was great!, Peace describes it well, but we were farther away up in the third mezzanine, however I did bring a pair of binoculars and could see plenty of details there, that was pretty cool. Ennio had the traditional long tux coat with tails on ;-).

There was also a 100 person chrous the Canticum Nouvun singers with a backup of a coral group from Buffalo University I think is what was said ( it wasn't in the program but was announced) behind the  Roma Sinfonetta Orchestra and Susanna Rigacci was the soprano, she did an admirable job.

Ennio made an elaborate show of walking off stage and bringing Susanna on for her parts in the OUTITW and Ecstacy of Gold and then again when she came out for the encores. Lets hope we can see more of him on this side of the Atlantic.

No the person that may have nore tales to tell should be Firecracker, he was down in the fourth row where their may have been some celebs about, but he wasn't heading back till 9PM tonight.

I'll scan some of the program for you guys.

Yeah, Firecracker was in 4th row in Orchestra section, me and my dad were in Second Mezzanine ( but they were great seats isolated off at the side ) and Cigar Joe and his wife were up in 3rd Mezzanine.

Firecracker was in the fourth row? I'm jealous. I see Il Clan Dei Siciliani in the program. That's one of favorites.

Can somebody upload some pics from the concert?

the Sunday paper was already printed and on sale by 11:00 PM I picked one up at the station after the concert, so it wouldn't have been in Sunday's NY Times.
