i didn't get to meet him. he spent most of the time with his 'entourage', so to speak. and besides, he came off as nothing but a cranky old man to the choir, because he threw a fit during our very first UN rehearsal. he speaks ONLY italian and french, so he needed an interpreter for english, and it was difficult for us to understand what he wanted, hence the fit

Oscar! Long over due recognition:

I find it amazing that an Italian who has worked some 40 years with the american film industry (off and on) has retained is culture and language. He has achieved immortal status and avoided being caught up in Hollywood's glitz.
I can really relate as a Québécois in English dominated North America.
Bravo Ennio!

Spoke to Sandra the chorist a.k.a. Yeuxhonnêtes yesterday, asking if she had any news on the release of the NYC concert DVD release. She figures it will be out by the end of the year.
Oh well! I'll have to make due with my DVD's of the Munich and Arena concerts. Which are great BTW. One thing about the great Arena concert, the NTSC DVD is sligtly different from the European release. Sacco&Vanzetti and Abolisson are missing on the American release. A shame, as I discovered Abolisson at the NYC concert.
There is also Youtube of course.

Hi Guys,
Just noticed on this You tube site showing the Oscar presentation that there is a version of Ecstacy of Gold from the WARSAW concert with a different soprano than Suzzana Ragacci. Personally I feel she sounds better than Ragacci and more like Del Orso. I think she has a purer sounding voice. Ragacci's voice has an "agressive" feel about it where Del Orso and this new soprano have a softer more smoother sound ....Any Thoughts Huh Huh Huh Huh

I thought the soprano that was featured at Radio City sounded very close to Dell' Orso.

I too find Rigacci on tape coarser than Edda, but in person at RCMH she was divine. Concerning the Warsaw concert, I think Suzanna was on hiatus 'cause she was back for the April concert in Bologna:

If only he could stop by NYC again or Montréal on the way....

... or Prague... Roll Eyes

There are posters about a musical event everywhere (= in trains), saying there will be a concert with "the most famous film music", but no Morricone. Angry

unfortunately, Morricone hasn't stepped foot in America at least since I began monitoring his website 3 years ago  Sad

btw, RE: discussion of sopranos: I absolutely can't friggin' stand Sussana Rigacci. I never watch any of the songs on YouTube with her; she is awful. Absolutely awful
