Anyone for Death Of A Gunfighter? I just saw this recently, and really enjoyed it.

I'm a sucker for movies whose protagonists die lousy deaths, however.

I haven't seen Rio Lobo but I will eventually get around to it. I will leave my expectations at the door for that one.

I was able to see this last night on a big screen thanks to a local movie group.  It was the actual reels of film, not a dvd popped into a projector.  The quality wasn't the best and the synching seemed to be about half a second apart, but I liked the movie more this time than I remember liking it in the past.

I was disappointed though that Rio Lobo was chosen.  It was chosen because Howard Hawks directed it, so why couldn't they choose Red River or Rio Bravo?  Eh, I shouldn't complain.   It was free, and I got to see a John Wayne movie on the big screen. Afro

Your collection is very impressive, Cigar Joe. Quite unique. Very different from other members.

I forgot I have "Doc" also. I actually like the bitter look at the life of Doc and Wyatt Earp. It's a real Frank Perry touch.

Is "Soldier Blue" uncut?

The version I have is the German release "Das Wiegenlied Von Totschlag" 110 mimutes with the Pal speed up so I don't know for sure, but its pretty graphic in the violence.

I'm aware of the graphic nature of the film. When it was shown on Cinemax years ago, it was censored. I hear that the German version is uncut and good quality in both video and sound. I just wonder how it compares to the R1 DVD which was released last December.

I've never seen the R1 DVD or a comparison of the two so I don't know Sanjurio.

And LA thanks!

Today I picked up the Professionals and Silverado, both quality DVDs, in the Wal-Mart $4.88 bin (along with the horror movie Devil's Backbone).

100 Rifles (DVD)***

Just saw this one again, recently. Jim Brown looks like a member of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre next to Welch and Reynolds. And Fernando Lamas, well he looked "mahvelous" Grin. Welch's other oater Hannie Caulder, what a waste of Chris Lee, Ernest Borgnine and Jack Elam.
