http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0901487/

Director: Kim Ji-woon (A Quiet Family, A Tale Of Two Sisters, A Bittersweet Life, 3 Extremes)
Cast: Lee Byung-hun (JSA, A Bittersweet Life, Bungeejumping Of Their Own), Jung Woo-sung (Daisy, Musa), and last but not the least Song Kang-ho (too many to mention... awesome guy).

Budget: $10 million

Plot: The movie set in Manchuria during the early 1900s, building off a string of Korean genre films from the 1970s that combined the aesthetics of the Western with outlaw movements aligned against Japanese colonial forces. Jung will play the good guy, a bounty hunter; while Lee will take the role of the bad guy, a hired gun- and swordsman; and Song will play the weird guy, a train robber who rides a motorcycle instead of a horse.

Works for me.

How can this be a Western? Shouldn't it be called an Eastern?

It looks promising but i don't think either the special effects or crap poppy music lend themselves well to a western (type) movie. Sad

The vamp heard in the background is taken from Santa Esmeralda's disco version of Don'l Let Me Be Misunderstood:

But Banjo, I'd never have thought to hear these words from you. Shocked Are you becoming conservative in tastes?

A friend of mine who doesn't really care for westerns pointed this trailer out to me, and I thought it looked pretty good.  The problem is actually seeing it in a theater if it even gets released in Chicago.  Most likely one a majority of people will have to look for on DVD. Angry

Well I don't think even Elvis would sound good to disco.

Anyway even the classic Animals original would be out of place in a western.

How can you expect any atmosphere from a western with such an accompaniment?

I thought you'd always go for the outrageous. Not like FC, but almost.  Cool And I don't think that music is out of place in THIS movie. At least, in the trailer it seems to be working.

I wouldn't fret. There is a good chance that song won't be in the final product.
It seems like they stuck it in the trailer to appease the fans of Kill Bill vol.1 (a style/attitude this trailer is trying to capture) which uses the song during its climax.

This looks like fun. Afro

I watched that movie today. It has several computer-generated scenes but in general they are pretty good. The musical score is uneventful IMO. I have noticed a few similarities with GBU, including "the good" pulling "the ugly" tied-up behind his horse, and the famous trio's duel. The characters' personalities also have some similarities (to a point) with the ones in GBU, but "the bad" is too sadistic for my liking.

6.5/10

Most actors are more or less terrible, and someone should have hired a professional writer to take care of the dialogues. Apart from that, this is a refreshing movie.

The most peculiar little coincidence; I was just preparing myself to watch it one of these days.
