Every bit as good as "Shaun of The dead".

The only disappointment were the action scenes towards the end. They suffer from too much mtv style editing and it won't let you see the spectacle.

I was going to go see this with my buds today, but it wasn't playing anywhere near us.

So we just hung out.

Having been briefly involved with Hott Fuzz I have to admit I don't subscribe to Pegg and Wright's humour. From Shaun to Fuzz I just don't find their stuff funny at all. I think they're one of those things where you either love em or you hate em.

The stuff I saw I thought was funny. Basically the crammed the best of the film in the 20mins so the rest of the film was just padding after that.

While I did enjoy it a lot, I didn't find it as good as SHAUN OF THE DEAD. It opens quite poorly, and only really hits it's stride when Pegg arrives at the village. I think because it's spoofing a genre I have no interest in, ie, big dumb action pictures, I didn't find it as engaging as SHAUN, although HOT FUZZ does have plenty of unexpected horror film moments.

I've bumped into Simon Pegg a couple of times over the years, and he's that rare thing, a celebrity who is a lot taller than you think they will be from seeing them on screen. He used to drink in the Good Mixer, before he got famous with SPACED, and I met him again in his fave bar on Earth (and one of mine), which is in Kephalonia in Greece. The house from SPACED is just round the corner from my house too.

I remember not being too impressed with Shaun of the Dead, so I liked Hot Fuzz better.  I just thought the humor was a bit over the top, especially toward the end.  But I won't spoil it for anyone just yet.  I'm wondering if it'll do well here at the box office.  Being foreign, I doubt it.  Americans have a knack for ignoring foreign films.

It's made back it's money already (though wasn't such a big hit as Shaun was) in the UK and I heard it took about $5 million opening weekend in the US so not bad at all (helped by the popularity of Shaun)

Sure, thing is in Miami (where I live), the seats were almost empty when FC and I went to go see Hot Fuzz on opening weekend.  And even for Shaun of the Dead (FC tells me) there was no big hype at all when it was first released in theatres.  I saw Shaun myself on a cable tv movie channel for the first time.

Isn't Shaun one of those ones which the DVD release really made it popular. That was the first time I saw it (and last)

It had a cult following after the dvd release here.

But I was one of the nine people that saw it in the cinema back in 2004.
