WTF were they thinking? How the f*ck will they get their money back?

There is no way in hell this will make more than 500 million at the box office.

In comic book terms...

This looks like the end of Spider-man

To be continued...

I agree with Kurugen, this seems to be a calculated gamble that shouldn't backfire. I'm not a big fan of the spiderman movies but even I have to admit that this third one looks good. If I remember T3 had the dubious honor of being the most expensive movie ever made and that went into the black.

It's going to be a Spiderman summer.  The merchandising and commercial endorsements are going to be ridiculous.  I'm sure they have a good idea about the overseas box office.  Then the DVD will probably be out for Christmas....followed by the Spiderman 3.1,3.2, 3.3 DVD versions.

They would have to pay me $500 million dollars to bother going to see this garbage.

Hmmmmmmm.... I think I'd go for considerably less than that. I guess that makes Juan a much classier whore than I. Smiley

First review I saw today wasn't positive. I still think this'll be a success. It's like the Potter books and films, they could bring one out of Harry just sitting in his Hogwarts apartment stoned out of his mind and people would still flock to see it. (The Da Vinci code movie also proved this theory)

Saw the movie today...looks like it could have been easily made with a hefty 200 million. What did they do with the other 300 mil?

They ddin't waste it on effects. A lot of it looked horrendous.

Good luck trying to make it all back - you're going up against the third "Pirates" movie and Shrek 3, that's an awfully big risk. It will probably be successful to some extent, but that's definitely throwing cash out the window.  Shocked

Seems so to me. I haven't seen the film (and don't intend to) but from the reviews it sounds like too many villains in the mix: New Green Goblin AND Sandman AND the black suit/Venom. Couldn't they have just taken any two and made a better movie?

Yes, too many villains, too many sideplots and TOO MUCH going on.
It felt like two movies in one. Also it has a really sappy third act where the Emerald Elf teams up with Arachno-man to vanquish Gravel Pit Man and Gene Simmons.
