I haven't seen all of Tepepa, but there's something I really like about the opening sequence. I don't know what it is...maybe the constant direct movement from left to right?
You mean the arrival by car of the John Steiner character, wasn't that right to left? Grin

OK FC i'll think about starting a new thread.

The Godfather Part III I definatly agreed with though.

Am I the only one who thinks Godfather 3 is as good as the first two?

Sure it might not have the star-studded cast like the previous movies, but it's still a great film.

Yes. And it's a real shame, too.

Would have to say The Godfather III is not on same level as first two, but not sure I would go as far to say it's Coppola's worst movie.  I have it above Peggy Sue Got Married.  As someone said, there's Jack.  I never saw all of Jack because I had enough of the big/little and little/big movies from that time.  Think you have to give credit to Coppola for Part II being on the same level as the first film.  The first two films were made in such a rich period for American films in the early 70's to mid 70's. Really was too bad that they didn't negotiate/compromise with Duvall.  I think his presence would of floated the film a little higher.  I did really like the helicopter hit scene.

One wonders if the money weren't just an excuse to avoid the project.

Heard a funny story about a big ensemble comedy once, that the casting director called an agency to book an old-time comedian. There were plenty of them in the film, so the stipulation was that the actors only received the standard rate -- everyone was taking this to accomodate the mass ensemble. The call was taken by a new guy at the agency, and he agreed to offer the job to his client.

So he calls the client, and his wife answers the phone and says, "He died three years ago and none of you sons of bitches came to the funeral."

So the agent, flummoxed that he didn't realize his own client was dead, called the casting director back to say, "My client will only be in the picture for double the money the others are getting.

Imagine his horror when they returned his call to agree to the terms!

Cable Hogue? That's a great movie! Those sons of bitches don't know what they talk...

I love Jason in this role. It's one of his best performances. And Sam is not only good when he did some butchery... he had a lyrical, poetic side, and C. H. is beautiful.

In lieu of having seen "Colossus of Rhodes", FOD is definitely Leone's weakest film - I mean, by far. I don't even like it much on a pure enjoyment level, it's very cheap and crappily dubbed, which has never ceased to aggravate me. It has a few trademark Eastwood/Leone moments, a great score, but that's about it.

As a Spielberg fan, his worst was definitely "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" - a really crappy cash-in on the original's success. It had almost nothing to do with the book, which was at least readable, and had so many illogical moments and plot twists that it's hard to watch. That was my favorite movie as an 8-year old, but being a little older now I think it's horrible. I've not seen "War of the Worlds", but I seriously doubt it's worse than TLW.

Sam's worst is The Osterman Weekend, as I heared. I didn't have risk it yet...  Grin

Leone? If "Nobody" is a Leone film, than that, if not, I would say OUTIA. Still a very good gangster epic, but a little too long. I love FOD (yeah, it isn't Yoyimbo... but fine), and DYS is much better than OUTIA.

I actually liked "The Osterman Weekend". I'm not crazy about it, but it's not a bad movie.

Nah, Spieldberg's worst has got to be War of the Worlds...

I think Coppola's worst (from the ones i've seen) has to be Jack

one of Peter Jackson's worst is LOTR: Return of the King..

one of Oliver Stone's worst is certainly Alexander..

Scorsese's worst must include The Aviator..

for now, this is what i could come up with

Agree with LOST WORLD but I still enjoy it.

And WOTW is bad but the first half is rather good. It has some of the darkest moments of Speilberg's career. It all goes down hill when Tim Robbins shows up and it's a shame about the ending.
