This is my idea of a perfect TGTB&TU edition:

Disc 1: The international export cut running 160 minutes (since this is the version first released in all countries outside of Italy and personally supervised by Leone this should be given the same respect as the longer cut)

Include all languages the film was ever dubbed in (original mixes of course), title cards and character intros for all languages they were ever created for.

Disc 2: The Italian premiere cut running 180 minutes

Include both Italian original mix as well as remastered, and the mixes created by MGM in 2003 (preferrably remastered with the original sound effects though) and music only track in remastered 5.1 . Include the international title cards as well.

Disc 3: Bonus material

Will include everything that is on the current MGM SE + The original US trailer (the one that switched The Bad and the Ugly).

I wouldn't mind seeing that.

I desperately want a remastered version of the 160 min. cut. I couldn't agree more with you.

Ya, the more I watch the new cut, the more I'm inclined to hold on to my old dvd. As much as I love the new scenes, the new dubbing is really bad (I don't understand why some lines are read differently - when I myself can read the lips and know what the line should be), the scene with tuco with the chicken/bandits doesn't work at all (fun to see it, but it's terrible)....sigh....it would be nice to have both options. Whenever I show somebody the movie (who hasn't seen it before) I show them the 160 min cut.

I'm not crazy about the extended cut. I prefer the original cut to the new one.

I prefer the longer version , my only quibble is the dubbing and its a minor one.

I think the deleted scenes should not be in the film with the exception of the Confederate fort scene. Explains why Angel Eyes is suddenly with the Union Army and adds another dimension to his character.

As do I, but it would be nice to have the option of choosing which version to watch.

Yeah, I agree with you here Peacemaker. That scene adds a lot to the film.

That scene IS crucial. I would also keep the extended scenes with the Union officer at the river encampment.
The additional dialog is excellent.

Anyone want to make me a dvd of this version (in mono of course)!
