Seriously, the cut-off for DVD switching is ridiculous.

Noodles is chasing down some guy. A very intense scene. Blood pumping. Noodles fires a shot.........

SWITCH DISKS. NOW.

Yeah, this DVD cut always pissed me off. Hopefully we get another DVD release of this and it's fixed.

To be fair though, I'm not sure where would have been a better cut-off point. . . the Intermission's about two-thirds of the way through the film, so I can understand the need for conserving DVD space.

You could only do a better job with current SD technology by issuing the film on 3 discs. Posters on this board would be the first to complain about the waste and added expense.

I don't understand why they didn't place the disc-change point right before the scene which now is cut half :o. That would have been much more reasonable, IMO.

Well, the disc would have ended with Tuesday Weld having an orgasm - might be kind of awkward. ;D

However, I think since a lot of the scenes flow right into one another, it would be hard to find a really good point to stop at.

They should have cut that scene from the middle, so everyone would change the disc immediately  ^-^ >:D!

Groggy, now that would of been interesting.

Max:          Beautiful.  Look at that.  Okay, better wrap them up.
                 (Checks out Noodles)
                 We're going.  You're coming?

Noodles:   Coming.

INTERMISSION (end of disc 1)

Possibly.  I'm thinking if they really follow up on the restoration of some of the deleted scenes that was talked about by his daughter last year.  They may decide to do another DVD and include them as deleted scenes.  Would be nice if they included the full documentary they took excerpts from.   Add another commentary by Frayling or someone that is very knowledgeable on gangster genre or even noirs.  Better yet....commentaries by Frayling and Stuart Kaminsky would be fantastic.

I think it's highly possible to have the deleted scenes on DVD someday, either separately or added into the film. It would make no sense to restore the scenes and show them only on one festival. I'll be the first one in the line to buy that DVD!
