http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ6d3m-GFyw

saw the trailer (above) before "Pirates". Looks laughably bad.
Takes place during the 60's and revolves around the youth.
It wasn't until the Vietname section of the trailer that i realized it was taking place during that time though because everything before that, and after, was totally unconvincing. The kids are sorry excuses for hippies. Look at their hairstyle. They look like today's Emos or indie kids.
If their we're shots of feet I wouldn't be surprised to see Nike shoe wear.

The Beatle covers that plague the trailer only add insult to injury.
And how about something else OTHER than the Beatles? The fab four weren't the only band being heard in that time period ya know?

coming september. Skip it.

Not only that, but they don't use the ACTUAL Beatles songs. They have some boy band singing The Beatles, now that's just an insult to the Fab Four.

The Beatles was a chick band anyway! I never saw too many dudes in the audience.

I mentioned the Beatle covers.

Excellent musical.

The cover songs are all very, very well done, and the choice of used songs is superb.

Well since this thread has been bumped, I'll reiterate that I found myself pleasantly surprised by it. The story and characters are lame but as a spectacle it's pretty jaw-dropping. I'm not sure I'd ever watch it again though.

Atrocious, strictly for non-Beatles fans. There's only one good thing: the Come Together sequence courtesy of Joe Cocker. Even the I Want You sequence is passable (but reminded me of the White Boys/Black Boys in Hair, a film that heavy influenced this. 4\10
